Head of School tenure is in crisis. Pre-pandemic stats had average head of school tenure at 3.5 years. An NAIS survey reported that one in three schools had three or more heads of school in the past 10 years. Recent reports are saying that tenure average may be dropping to a staggering 1.5 years. To compound this problem, many young schools end up closing their doors for good because of poor management.
